Remembering More Items of a List

In the exercise of the previous post, "List of Countries that You Know!", and also in the exercises entitled as "List of Novel Titles" and "List of Animals that You Know!", you had to remember the items of a list which were kept in your mind for a relatively long term where you have built the list in years and probably gradually in different times in your life.

In situation like these exorcises, you may remember more items by:

1. Write down all you can quickly remember (in one to maximum ten seconds for each).

2. Start finding different categories, groups, or classes for the list. For example, in remembering country names, you can make different groups such as:
a) countries in North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Australasia
b) country names starting with A, B, C, ..., Z
c) countries with cold and warm weathers
d) countries with old histories vs. new countries
e) ...

And try to remember some countries for each group.

3. Quickly, review the items you have written so far and then try to remember any missing items that have some relations with them. For example, regarding any rhythms of pronunciations or similarity in spellings; e.g. if you have already written Iran then you may remember Iraq.
