When you see a new color, you should remember whether the color displayed two trials back was a dark color or a light color. Then:
By your left hand you should press D for DARK.
By your right hand you should press L for LIGHT.
Consider the following scenario as an example:

1: You click on the Start button.
2: The first color which is displayed is light. Now, you do not need to press any key because there is no colors previously displayed.
3: The second color which is displayed is dark. You still do not need to press any key because there is no color displayed two trials back.
4: The third color which is displayed is dark. As soon as you see this third color you should press L because the color displayed two steps back, i.e. the first color, was a light color.
5: The fourth color which is displayed is light. As soon as you see this fourth color you should press D because the color displayed two steps back, i.e. the second color, was a dark color.
6: Continue this process until you could get the highest score that you are able to get.

As you do this exercise you should get higher and higher scores. For example, in the first day you may get a score around 2000. Then in the following day that you do this exercise, try to get a score higher than 2500 and so.

The colors are displayed randomly in three different speeds that you may choose before clicking on the Start button: Slow, Normal and Fast. Beginners and also people aged 65 or older may choose Slow.

If you press the correct key your score will be increased instantly and if you press the wrong key or if you do not press any key your score will be decreased.

Beginners may fail running this practice in the first tries. It is highly recommended to press the End button to re-start when they see their scores are not increased. The key point for this exercise is: DO NOT GIVE UP! If you try and try you would understand how to do this; actually your brain will configure it for you!
